Introduction
Elite Armor is a unique type of gear in the game that offers superior protection and powerful stat bonuses compared to standard armor.
Acquiring Elite Armor
Elite Armor can only be obtained by defeating elite versions of special monsters that spawn in unique areas within the game.
Elite Tiers
There are several tiers of elite monsters, each with increasing difficulty and the potential for better loot:
- Elite: Base tier. Can only drop Elite Armor with no bonus stats, but provides significantly increased defense.
- Veteran: Can drop Elite Armor with up to 1 bonus stat.
- Noble: Can drop Elite Armor with up to 2 bonus stats.
- Leader: Can drop Elite Armor with up to 3 bonus stats.
- Grandmaster: Can drop Elite Armor with up to 4 bonus stats.
Important Note: Higher-tier elites can drop armor from lower tiers. Higher the difficulty, better the odds are of rewards.
Stat Overview & Names
The following table summarizes the possible stat bonuses and their names for each class:
Veteran | Noble | Leader | Grandmaster | |
Class | 1 Stat | 2 Stats | 3 Stats | 4 Stats |
Fighter | Impenetrable | Stalward | Indestructible | Godly |
Thief | Gifted | Shadow | Ancient | Legendary |
Mage | Visionary | Saintly | Mythical | Ultimate |
Initiative
Elite monsters possess Initiative, granting them a chance to attack first in combat.
This chance is determined by a formula involving your Dexterity (Dex), Intelligence (Int), and Charisma (Chr) stats.
Formula: The closer the average of your Dex and Int (calculated as (Dex + Int) / 2) is to your Chr (including any bonuses from armor, jewelry, or other buffs), the lower the chance the elite will gain Initiative.
Initiative Caps & Power Scaling Table:
Each elite tier has an Initiative cap, meaning there's always a slight chance the creature will gain Initiative. Also, since these are Elite monsters, they will have a higher max hit compared to a regular monster, with double their normal attacks.
Elite Hydra Example With Defense Calculation
- Hydra - 3 attacks with 1,650 max hit
- Reduce to damager per attack
- Apply reduction based on elite tier of 60%
- Apply defense of 84 from full Hydra set
- Multiply by 6 for the doubled attacks to get new max hit
Subract 84 defense per attack
In this case, the elite hydra's max hit is actually LESS than the regular hydra!
Known Armors and Areas
Tier 2 Crab Lord
The Crab Lord resides in the Beach and drops only three pieces of elite armor, one for each guild. This encounter serves as an introduction to elite armor and familiarizes players with the mechanics of elite monster battles.
Elite monsters have a chance to initiate combat, attacking before you do. Ensure you are adequately healed and well-defended before engaging. Testing has shown that the Crab Lord's maximum hit is likely below 70, so sufficient health, defense, or a combination of both should allow you to survive.
Type | Armor | Defense | Stat |
Fighter | Elite Tin Placed Gloves | 5 | +5 Str |
Thief | Elite Soft Leather Coif | 5 | +5 Dex |
Mage | Elite Cloth Sandals | 3 | +5 Int |
Selling the armor earned from defeating the Crab Lord provides a small amount of gold. This can be used to purchase a starter weapon or contribute towards acquiring the rest of the armor for your guild. However, keep in mind that armor's significance might not be immediately apparent at this stage of the game.
Tier 4 Cave River (Ogre Cave)
Located at the bottom of the Ogre Cave, the Cave River can be accessed by digging west with a shovel and the digging skill. This area comprises three distinct sections: Elite, Veteran, and Noble. Each section houses enhanced versions of the Hydra, Pirarucu, and Ogre-Eating Cave Spider.
Hydra: Drops Fighter pieces up to Noble tier. Provides a +40 Strength and +20 Constitution stat bonus.
Pirarucu: Drops Thief pieces up to Noble tier. Provides a +40 Dexterity and +20 Charisma stat bonus.
Ogre-Eating Cave Spider: Drops Mage pieces up to Noble tier. Provides a +40 Intelligence and +20 Wisdom stat bonus.
Type | Armor | 1st Stat | 2nd Stat | Drops From | Location |
Fighter | Hydraplate Equipment | +40 Str | +20 Con | Hydra | Cave River |
Thief | Fishscale Equipment | +40 Dex | +20 Chr | Pirarucu | Cave River |
Mage | Spidersilk Equipment | +40 Int | +20 Wis | Ogre-eating Cave Spider | Cave River |
Max Hit Table
Name | Normal | Elite | Veteran | Noble | Normal Attacks | Elite Attacks |
Hydra | 1,650 | 1980 | 2310 | 2640 | 3 | 6 |
Pirarucu | 1,650 | 1980 | 2310 | 2640 | 1 | 2 |
Ogre-eating Cave Spider | 1,650 | 1980 | 2310 | 2640 | 8 | 16 |
Tier 5 Hexagon
All the armor drops are specific to this location, so see Hexagon for more details about the area.
Tier 6 Volcano + Haunted Islands
Lower Volcano requires a lot of inflated stats to enter, so some pieces might not be very accessible for the regular player.
Haunted Islands requires that you have a Vessel and are able to access the open seas.
Tier 7 Armor
Tier 7 is very interesting to say the least. Once upon a time, there were drops scattered all around the game for this armor. Ocean, Pyramid, Glacier, Ice Palace, and Catacombs all had various pieces of this armor. They still do, actually. If you are one who hates side quests and wants a straightforward way to go, visit the section pages for more information there.
However, if you have done the Open Sea quests, and can do the Promised Island quests up through the end of Avians, you'll get access to Forbidden Luxuries, which has all the monsters and their armor drops throughout the other section of the Vast Desert.
The End
This is the end of the 1st section of elite armor. The next section is much different, so visit the page here: Elite Armor Section 2
