In an effort to have the beginning of the game more interesting several new areas, locations, and quests were created. Below you will find information on each.
Rusty Dagger Quest
New characters no longer start the game with a Knife After getting the Clean the Beach quest from the Mayor players will naturally head towards the Beach area, only to encounter a Town Guard that warns them of the danger of training there, especially without a weapon. He will suggest going to the Farm Lands where a weapon might be found. This quest is not required to enter the Beach, but as an alternative path for new characters to follow. Visiting the guard is required for the Rusty Dagger to appear.
Bringing Peace to the Coop
Chicken or the Egg Quest
Once the character has the required 18, 20, or 22 charisma required to access the Old Farm House section of the Farm Lands they can receive this quest from individual watching the farm for the Farmer. He will mention that the production of the chickens is down and that something must have the worked up. He asks you to collect 12 eggs. Eggs don't have to be newly gained eggs, but will be taken from your inventory. The reward is 500 gold for doing so.
Rooster Woes Quest
Turns out that it might be the Rooster that is causing all the problems. You're directed to find the Rooster, located in the non-angry chicken part of the Coop. Find, then kill one, to complete the quest and return to the attendant. The reward is 20k experience.
Banish the Fox Quest
The attendant will then suggest that it might be a fox that is frightening the chickens and send you out to find one. It can be found randomly in the angry chicken part of the Coop. Kill one and return for your 100k experience points. This quest can be repeated after an hour.
Giving a Helping Hand
Learning Harvesting
These series of quests will introduce a player to using tools and skills to obtain items. The quest begins on the first spot of the Potato Field section of the Farm Lands. Here a farm worker will talk about learning skills by watching the other workers. Walk to the east, south, then west until you have visited all three spots you can harvest. When you return to the first spot you'll be given the Harvesting scroll (first blue link) and directions to both the shop that sells the Harvesting Tool and the Skill Trainer in Shillatown. The second blue link will give you the Earthworm guest
Playing with Earthworms
Go to the Skill Trainer and train Harvesting to 5. This is higher than you need to finish the Earthworm part of this quest line, but its the highest level you'll need to finish all the quests. You'll need a Harvesting Tool from the Farm Lands shop which is NEx4, NWx4, E, NE from the Farm Lands entrance. Its cheap, less than 11 gold depending on your charisma. After equipping the tool go back to one of the three spots and collect 20 Earthworms. These and Potatoes are food items. Completing the quest doesn't gain you any experience or gold, but does allow access to the Orchard section of the Farm Lands. This quest can be repeated every 24 hours.
Picking Apples
This last part of the Harvesting quest line is repeatable every hour. Proceed to the first spot of the Orchard section where you will see the blue link that activates the quest. You'll be given the location of the Farmer's wife (Instructor's House) east of the tool shop. It's a bit unclear exactly what you need to do. I went to the house, found nothing had changed, then returned to the Orchard to find the quest activation link of "I'm back." You might only need to leave the area and return. Click the second blue link and then go to the Farmer's wife. She'll want 20 apples, collect them and she'll give you 12 Apple Juices. This is a food item.
