Skills Overview
Shilla isn't all about killing monsters and getting stronger. There are skills in the game that you can learn and do in order to help progress through the game easier.
Harvesting
Harvesting is a newbie skill that really serves no real purpose outside of some farm quests at the beginning of the game.
The food you harvest doesn't do much after a certain point, and once you get to probably the Sewers, you'll find better food from creature drops.
The game does tell you which level and where to find the items you need for your quests, but here is the Harvesting table of items:
Item Name | Item Type | Skill Level | Mine Level | Chance | Lowest Location |
Earthworm | FOOD | 0 | 0 - 0 | 8.00% | Farm Lands |
Potato | FOOD | 1 | 0 - 0 | 50.00% | Farm Lands |
Apple | FOOD | 3 | 1 - 3 | 90.00% | Farm Lands |
Magic Apple | FOOD | 5 | 2 - 2 | 20.00% | Farm Lands |
Amarena Cherry | FOOD | 5 | 3 - 3 | 20.00% | Farm Lands |
Digging
This is the first real skill you'll come across in the game. You can buy the skill in the Beach shop, and the shovel too. If you're training in the Beach, you'll likely find Shovels from item drops as well. You'll need to equip the Shovel each time you want to dig.
Digging mostly will gather you a lot of materials for your any future Residences you wish to build. At later levels you may get things for weapon enchanting, but that is probably more middle to end game stuff.
Here is a list of Digging items and where to find them:

Woodcutting
Woodcutting is a skill that is found in the beginning of the game. The skill is dropped by the Goblin in the Outskirts. You won't be able to do much with the skill until you come across some forest areas of the game, such as Dark Forest, Werewolf Forest, and Deep Dark Forest.
Woodcutting as a skill is really needed if you are working with a Residence. Most of the items found this way are used for building, such as Construction Wood and Oak Wood.
Later game you'll want to stock up on Green Pixie Dusts, since they help with your Trampoline, which is an advanced way to get to and from places where Teleport doesn't exist.
Tier 21-22 items for forging are mostly found in the Gnome Village section.
You will need to acquire a Woodcutting Axe from the Gnome Village to equip to cut trees down. Later on if you can afford it, you can buy the Lumberjack Axe to raise your prof. levels higher.

Mining
Mining is the one original skill leftover from the old version of Shilla. Therefore, it is the most used one in the game.
You'll buy the skill and the item needed in Dwarven Stronghold, or it's newer counterpart Goblin Cave. Dwarven requires a high amount of money and low amount of spell levels to get in, Goblin requires a high amount of skill levels and less money.
You'll be digging for a lot of things in a lot of places in Shilla. Fighters need gems to progress in their quests, Residences need tons of Solid Rock and their rooms require a lot of the other qualities of gems.
If you want to weapon enchant any of your weapons, most of the items will be found through Mining.

Treasure Hunting
Treasure Hunting is a passive skill, used in the Vast Desert. How it works is whenever you travel without a Compass, you will see many of the same directional link. If all the links line up in the same direction, you have a chance to find a hidden treasure.
Your odds improve by increasing your skill level and your prof. level, but ultimately what you'll find is likely not that great.
There is more of a guide written here about it: Treasure Hunting.
Kitchen Skills
These can all be bought in town. You will need a kitchen from your residence to be able to use these skills. Otherwise there isn't really a whole lot that goes into these skills so here they are:
Cooking - Needed for some quests, house buffs and allows you to make food that heals for 25% more mana. The item becomes a 'soup'.
Baking - Needed for some quests, house buffs and allows you to make food that heals for 25% more fatigue. The item becomes a 'pie'.
Grilling - Needed for some quests, house buffs and allows you to make food that heals for 25% more life. The item becomes 'grilled'.
Mixing - Takes 3 ingredients, mixes them together to make a Salad, Juice or Ragout. Used in housing.
Cooking, Baking and Grilling take 5 mins per item to create. While the result is a higher quality food, more often than not you'll just find better food on your own. Mixing is instant, but the highest quality food determines what time it'll be, and it usually is a lesser quality food than you'd start with. That's why it's only used in house buffs when they ask for it.
OLD research by AA that I don't really want to delete
Skills are things in Shilla that can be used in a variety of ways. Here is a list of the ones below, and their uses.
Mining - allows a player to mine various mines throughout Shilla. Items found in here are used
for quests, forges, weapon enchanting and house building. Scroll is sold in Dwarven Stronghold
Treasure Hunting - While not as useful as the old days, you can passively look for hidden treasure
while walking the Vast Desert. There is nothing really useful in here, but an Eye of Ra and
an Engagement Ring are decent items to have for a Mage playthrough. Scroll is sold in the Vast Desert
by the Travelling Salesman.
Woodcutting - Allows you to take any Axe, and cut down trees with it. Mostly used for house building,
but some forging can be done with some of the items as well. Scroll drops in the Outskirts.
Digging - Allows a player to take a Shovel, and dig for items in sandy areas. Most items are used
in house building and some weapon enchanting.
Harvesting - Allows the player to find food on the ground in some of the beginning stages. Scroll is sold in Farm Lands.
All the above is sold in Shillatown.
There are various items that can help you, check tools for more information.
